Whats new in 2022?

As a kid, I used to think of “The Year 2000” as the coolest, most futuristic year imaginable. It was going to be so awesome to not have a year starting with “19…” and I was sure all of the cool stuff the sci-fi books and comics and movies showed us would really happen.

Well, it’s 22 years past that monumental point in our history and while there are definitely some cool sci-fi things that our world of tomorrow has today, the prognosticators of the past sort of missed the mark on the flying cars and space stations on the moon and such.

But there is a lot going on and some interesting things that are scheduled to happen this year. I don’t mean the predictions of Nostradamus or the Mayan prophecies. I mean things that we will be seeing, like for real, in 2022.

The Winter Olympics are coming up. It’s a little weird, since we just got done with the Summer Olympics a few months ago, but I’m pretty jazzed about getting to see the curling competition once again.

Queen Elizibeth II of England will celebrate a whopping 70 years on the throne. She’s already the longest serving British monarch, but 70 years is quite an achievement.

The 2022 World Cup will take place. I have zero interest in soccer, but the rest of the world thinks it’s a pretty big deal, so that’s on the horizon.

The Mid-term elections are set for November 8th, so 10 months from this Saturday. I honestly have no idea what to expect, but if the Democrats don’t figure out a way to actually get something done, I predict a “red wave.”

And you don’t have to be Nostradamus to see that one!
