far as trans women in professional tennis, google Rene Richards. She successfully petitioned to play professionally in women’s tennis in the 1970s. Maybe before your time. [Editor’s Note: Thanks for sending this in. I actually dedicated my “Viewpoint” column today to this subject, so for a full response, please see Page 4. I will note here, though, that I wonder what the local reaction would be if a trans athlete wanted to play on, say, the Patriots softball team or the Blue Devils volleyball team. It’s easy to bash someone on the internet but what if it was a local young person who you might run into at church or at Walmart. It hasn’t been all that long ago that folks were up in arms when a same-sex couple wanted to go to the Senior Prom together, and I don’t think the local social climate has gotten much more progressive

The purchase of Twitter by Elon Musk will mean he can be the only spokesperson. The last time we had one spokesperson we got the Ten Commandments. What divine commands will Musk give us? [Editor’s Note: That’s pretty deep, man … Doesn’t the Bible tell us Moses and his good friend Elijah are supposed to return to herald the Second Coming? Looking at the world around us these days, I’m pretty OK with that. In regard to Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, I could not care less. I will say, though, if you’re the sort of person who is super excited about Elon Musk buying Twitter, you might want to look at who else is excited about it and ask yourself if you want

Can we get someone to please _x all the potholes around here? I am getting tired of plugging tires and every vehicle in my family has had to have an alignment in the past year! [Editor’s Note: Since you don’t mention any speci_c potholes (probably because there were too many to single out), I can’t say with any con_dence which agency is responsible for your particular troubles. I will say, we are paying an extra penny at the gas pump to fund road maintenance, so it would be cool if the powers that be would, you know, maintain the roads]

What if Obama just showed back up at the

White House and started acting like he was president again? Do you think Biden would just forget he was president and go back to being VP? [Editor’s Note: Obama would have to get everyone else to play along, but it just might work! But seriously, I’m beginning to wonder what the 2024 presidential election is going to look like. Biden will turn 80 in November, meaning he would turn 82 just days after the 2024 election. I honestly can’t imagine he would be a viable candidate. Does than mean Kamala Harris steps up to run? She hasn’t had an especially memorable run as Vice President to date. On the Republican side, surely the GOP can wrest itself away from Trump, who by the way, would be 78 in 2024, so where do they turn for a candidate? It will be quite interesting to see how that all goes down]
