Marion teams look for deep runs in 2022 state tournaments

Marion School District Eyes from across the state will converge this week on Hot Springs Lakeside High School, the site of the 2022 Class 5A state baseball and softball tournaments.

For Marion High School, it’s the very definition of a twin-killing as the baseball and softball programs have each advanced to the winor- go-home bracket challenge.

If you can’t make it to Hot Springs to cheer on the Patriots in person, then don’t fret. Every Marion baseball and softball game at the state tournament will be streamed live on MarionPatriots.com and on the Marion Patriots Activities Network mobile app.

The action ramps up early on Thursday morning when Marion baseball (25-5 overall, 13-1 5A East) opens their run at a state championship at 10 a.m. against the White Hall Bulldogs (14-10, 9-5) at Hot Springs Lakeside High School. At 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Marion softball (17-10, 9-5) takes on Lake Hamilton (12-11, 9-4) at Hank Aaron Field.

Should both advance, softball would play the winner of the Van Buren-Maumelle game at noon on Friday afternoon. If baseball wins the first-round contest against White Hall, the Pats would play the winner of the Greenbrier-Benton tilt at 5:30 at Majestic Park in Hot Springs.

If both teams make the semifinals, softball would play at noon on Saturday, followed by baseball at 2:30. The finals are scheduled for May 20 and 21 at the Benton Sports Complex in Benton.
