It’s always a scary situation when a beloved fourlegged member of the family goes missing, but in one such case earlier this week, there was a happy ending and a reunion.

If you’ve ever seen a “Lost Dog” poster around town and wondered how often the missing pooches actualy get found, the numbers are not good. According to the ASPCA, roughly 80% of missing pets are never recoverend.

Fortunately, such was not the case when a Memphis man was reunited with his 15-year-old pomeranian two weeks after she was taken during a car theft in a supermarket parking lot across the river..

The dog was taken, along with the man’s car, from a Kroger on Union Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee.

The victim, who has requested anonymity, put the word out on Facebook about his stolen pet. After no update on the dog for several days, on Tuesday, he got a message on Facebook from a West Memphis couple who said they believed they had found his dog.

After a few shared messages, the couple also sent him a picture of the lightcolored pomeranian they say they picked up in the city at the intersection of Pierce and Cooper and turned her over to the West Memphis Animal Shelter.

After confirming the identity of his missing pet, the owner was able to pick up the dog at the shelter Tuesday afternoon.

Police are still looking for his dark purple 2017 Infiniti QX70. If seen, please call the WMPD.
