Death marks sixth homicide of 2023

Another homicide in West Memphis brings the total for 2023 to six.

The WMPD responded to a call this past Saturday, Dec. 2, at approximately 9 p.m., regarding a man that had been shot at a residence in the 600 Block of South 21st Street. Upon arrival police officers found an unresponsive male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. EMS was notified and made the scene, but the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was identified as 44-year-old George Mabin of West Memphis. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division arrived on the scene to begin their preliminary investigation and process the scene.

The total number of homicides for 2023 have still not reached the nine of the previous year 2022 and authorities are confident they will not.
