The Marion School District is adjusting its academic calendar for the current school year following approval of the changes by the Marion School Board last Thursday night.

Wednesday, March 27, which had previously been announced as a snow makeup day, will now be a professional development day for staff. Students will not attend school.

Monday, April 1, which had previously been scheduled as a professional development day, will now be a regular school day, serving as a snow makeup day.

“With these moves, we will be able to give our students one more day of Spring Break, and return to our original plan of having the first day back from break be a professional development day,” said Hugh Inman, the district’s deputy superintendent.

The following previously announced snow makeup days will remain intact:

• Friday, May 24

• Friday, April 26

• Thursday, March 28

• Friday, March 29 The Marion Spring Break will run from March 18-26. Including weekends and the professional development day, students will have 12 days off for Spring Break. The fourth quarter will begin on Thursday, March 28.

As a reminder, due to a change in state law, the Marion School District is no longer allowed to use 'AMI' days when schools are closed for inclement weather or any other reason. All days missed must be made up.
