Sometimes Mother Nature is Naughty …

Share

W e think of Mother Nature as a beautiful lady walking in the flowers with birds and butterflies lighting in her hands. This is a wonderful vision. She is a symbol of all the good things the Lord has given us. However Mother Nature has her bad side. This last week of cold rain turning into ice and causing the trees and power lines to break shows she can be truly naughty. It has been a miserable week for many Arkansas people with much of the county without lights.

Papa Duck lives in Proctor and we were dark for about 3 days. Because we are on the Midway Water line and there was no power to the well, we did without water. The water association rented a large generator from folks in the Little Rock area. Manny of our neighbors have generators that save the day. We ran ours for about 3 days straight. We are on propane heat and hot water, so we were comfortable with heat and light. You do learn to turn off the lights when leaving a room! The major problem was having to keep gas in the generator. I understand there was not a generator for sale locally. We got ours from Harbor Freight in the summer several years ago when they were having a clearance sale.

With a week of severe weather, it’s no surprise there was not much going on in the outdoor world. Snow goose hunts are having some success but not many hunters are out. Most fishermen did not battle the weather to sit on the water with a strong wind. The weather man has promised us this coming week will be clear and in the 60s. The lakes should get plenty of fishermen this week. Wapanocca opened yesterday and there were plenty of fishermen fishing in the spillway. There are no reports so far.

Papa Duck’s Commentary Corner

A major problem using the generator is that it really likes gas. Papa Duck brought three 5 gallons cans to the cheapest gay station in town. $60. bought less than 20 gallons of gas. This time last year it was less than half the price. We can blame Mr. Biden for the doubling of gas prices in less than a year. He has closed down many of the US pipelines and is trying to close more. He prefers that we buy oil from foreign companies at a higher price per barrel than the American companies are receiving.

He is closing our oil lines and taking many good paying jobs from Americans. He is making us dependent on foreign countries for our fuel. These are countries that will turn against American. We were energy independent and even exporting it. Biden and his cronies in Washington are trying to financially destroy the USA. For you people that voted for Biden, you see what you got. Do Biden supporters really feel very confident with him leading the county against the Russian conflict? Folks say Papa Duck should stick to hunting and fishing and leave politics alone. He does not apologize for this mess.

Back to the Great Outdoors… The weather will get better, so take the family to the lakes and catch some fish. Take plenty of pictures and send them to Papa Duck. Lakeside Taxidermy appreciates you business and it will soon be time to start mounting fish at a reasonable rate and quick service. The mounts are beautiful.

Apparently it wasn’t cold enough for some folks here in Crittenden County … Mike Briggs along with daughter Lauren and grandson Austin had some fun catching salmon near Homer, Alaska.
