Arkansas Scholarship Lottery LITTLE ROCK — Great things come to those who wait, especially in the form of lottery dollars. Today a West Memphis man, who’s been playing the lottery since 2009, claimed a Powerball prize worth $50,000 at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center.

Archie Miles King II purchased the Quick Pick ticket at Tobacco Warehouse, 315-B West Broadway in West Memphis for the Oct.

30 drawing.

The winning numbers were 19, 22, 52, 56, 67, and the Powerball number was 21. King had four white ball numbers, plus the Powerball number. If he had paid an additional dollar for the Power Play, he would have multiplied his $50,000 prize by two.

King discovered he was a winner on Nov. 1. He left the ticket in the console of his truck and didn’t have a chance to check it until then.

“I got home that evening and decided to check the numbers of the lottery’s website. When I found out that I won, I was so overwhelmed with joy that I just couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I first told my daughter, Hailey, about my win.”

King has been playing the lottery for more than 10 years and had only won a couple of hundred dollars until now. He still felt like he was suffering from an out-of-body experience, so he rushed to his sister’s house, Sybol Shaw, for another set of eyes.

“We checked that ticket about four times before we believed that he was a winner,” Shaw said. “I immediately put the ticket in a plastic bag and told him to put it somewhere safe!”

King plans to purchase a used truck with his winnings.

The Powerball jackpot for tonight’s drawing is $40 million. The Natural State Jackpot drawing for tonight now stands at $50,000. The Mega Millions® jackpot for Friday’s drawing is $145 million. Winning lottery numbers are posted at MyArkansasLottery.com.
