Ruth Guy was honored with a surprise birthday party for her 70th birthday party on March 8, at the Parkin Park. She was brought to the park thinking that she was going to attend a baby shower for her granddaughter.
Co-hosts for the party were her husband Bobby Guy, Susie and Mike Root of Marion, Crissy and Tyler Carmichael of Earle, Shannon Heath and Nick Devito of Tyronza, Megan Bius and Scotty Heath of Tyronza.
The group enjoyed a barbecue lunch with side dishes. The cake was decorated with a “Cruising” theme to bring back happy memories of past cruises. The honoree was surprised to see her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Dennis Davies of Hudson, Florida.
Others among the 75 present were from Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas.
The Earle Happy Hour Club met recently at First United Methodist Church. Dot McKinney presided in place of the president, Becky Knapp, who was absent.
The group enjoyed a potluck lunch. Rev. Tony Wells led in the group singing “We Are One in the Bond of Love,” accompanied by Alex Turner. Rev. Wells also delivered the devotional. Scripture readings were from John, Ephesians and Colossians.
Others in attendance were Anga Turner, Vickey Wells, Jane Speed, Adria Roberts, Elleene Holloway, Doris Gately, J.W. Ellis, Johnny Jenkins, Mary Hickey, Janis Lancaster, Louis Lancaster and Faye Thompson
The Canasta Club met at the home of Terre Rodgers in Earle on March 10. Judy Sharp of Marked Tree won high, Kaye Lehman of Marion won second, Lou Burns of Marked Tree won bingo and Debbie Franks of Tyronza won low.
The Mexican theme was displayed in the food and prizes, brought from Mexico.
The Earle Baptist Church ’39ers enjoyed having dinner at Asian Fusion in West Memphis recently.
Included were Mark and Adria Roberts, Tanya and Bobby Pate, Anga and Rick Turner, Caleb Turner, Kay and Rev. Bill Watt, Vickey Wells, and church pastor Rev. Tony Wells.
Kay and Richard Rogers spent the weekend in Branson, Missouri recently.
